middle vyas is feeling very loved!

ok. so I asked you all to chip in and get me a camcorder - which you did, a really really lovely one.
however all you naughty people bought me so much stuff too! which is very nice of you but really, no need to spend so much on me, honest! jigs and das - I got the parcel, all good, loved it all thank you. I will read a book and bookmark it with the nice bookmark whilst listening to blinging headphones and writing out little complaint notes to stef on the post-its and boffing the carbon neutral chocolate, the icebreaker sours and the fairtrade nut bar that roops and anish got me: whilst doing this I will be wearing the lovely top roops bought me too, with the hairclips in my hair from mum and the bracelet on too- i will have bathed in the bubble bath dad chose and be wearing the pink t-shirt he bought me whilst I am thinking about what to buy with the Dorothy Perkins voucher that Viv and Chris gave me, which i will put (together with the money from mum and dad) into the gorgeous handbag from deepa when i go shopping - phew. But right now I am recovering from all the yummy margaritas that Lucy bought me and the massive meal and booze stef took me for whilst smelling the beautiful flowers kevin gave me and thinking about the tree mama planted for me! .
so all in all - thank you guys! you really all spent way too much and I really really appreciate it!
last night, after drinking on with roops anish lucy kevin rich chris and deeps i met stef on the southbank and he took me for a yummy meal at skylon - it was gorgeous - great cocktails, I had a 'premium' marga - mmmmmhhh, huge salt rim and the best tequila - went down a treat. then we both had the French onion coup and I had the salmon and smoked haddock fishcake - gorgeous. of course I had to have pudding too - chocolate mousse.........just perfect. all washed down with Kent's finest wine - which I can tell you all was pretty darn tasty - I would defo drink it again! quite complex flavours in the wine (yeah, like i know!) but a really nice crisp clean taste
i need sleep now........thank you all again! lets party on on friday night! woohooo!

West Wing

FYI:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0200276/faq#.2.1.1

In the Season 2 finale, Two Cathedrals (#2.22), Bartlet speaks latin, what does he say?

"Gratias tibi ago, domine. Haec credam a deo pio? A deo iusto, a deo scito? Cruciatus in crucem. Tuus in terra servus, nuntius fui. Officium perfeci. Cruciatus in crucem. Eas in crucem!""I give thanks to you, O Lord. Am I really to believe that these are the acts of a loving God? A just God? A wise God? To hell with your punishments. I was your servant here on Earth. And I spread your word and I did your work. To hell with your punishments. To hell with you!"

Also Martin Sheen is coming to Dallas next week and I am really really trying to get tickets to the sold out lecture, apparently Michael Douglas cancelled and Martin Sheen is the replacement, I want to meet the president! Will keep you posted!

Kite flying in Gujarat

Having looked again at the Guardian Weekly after a long time, I found this interesting article in the 21st Century life section, talking about a kite flying festival in Gujarat, I really do think that the t'internet is at its best when it allows us to share in random "joy of life" stories as opposed to the usual politics of fear, economy is all over and other such gumph I seem to be subjected to at the moment:

McDiploma

I started off with moping the floor, then I moved on to washing the lettuce, then you move on to flipping the burgers and then in 5 short years you can make it to assistant manager and that's when the big bucks roll in:

Basanti

Wooley said that Basanti is the main female lead and she is Hema Malani and so he thinks it is a compliment, and as he has seen Shole (is that how you spell it?) he should know, I think I will try to remember to put it on our netflix list. Jigna

Zumba

Apparently there is the Texas 20, as in you move to Texas and gain 20 pounds, Wooley and I have proven this theory very right, I hate the gym and so joined the local YMCA where they do some fun classes, including Zumba, click here for a link.

Its a lot of fun, well I enjoy it and gets me some exercise, as for loosing the Texas 20, after the Christmas excess its more like 40, and you know I love my food and drink so I may need a few more Zumba classes.

half of a yellow sun

just finished reading the orange prize winner - half of a yellow sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. phew. i feel quite emotional, it was really well written - although I felt quite ignorant when i read it cos I don't actually know much about the war in Nigeria in the late 60's....recommend it definitely.

think I'll read the one that mum got me for christmas next.....

pizza or veg and bread?

if one has the option to eat veg and bread or a juicy pizza of and evening, what option would one choose? now, the dilemma is that how and what is the veg fashioned in and how and what is the bread cultivated in order to compliment this concoction? so who would choose the v+b combo when there are so many combinations of ming and mong with both them ingredients?
so all in all, one would choose a fucking pizza innit. anyway. i feel i have argued my point effectively. over and out. roopa xxx

CTA

oh there they go. There they go, every time I start talkin 'bout boxing, a white man got to pull Rocky Marciano out their ass. That's their one, that's their one. Rocky Marciano. Rocky Marciano. Let me tell you something once and for all. Rocky Marciano was good, but compared to Joe Louis, Rocky Marciano ain't shit.

CTA

Look... me and the McDonald's people got this little misunderstanding. See, they're McDonald's... I'm McDowell's. They got the Golden Arches, mine is the Golden Arcs.

They got the Big Mac, I got the Big Mick. We both got two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles and onions, but their buns have sesame seeds. My buns have no seeds.

gin and shouting

no matter the oceans that sepearte sisters gin and shouting survive.

take for example now. I can hear Roopa (to my left on the sofa in the BF) and jigna (on the headphones, on skype to Roops from Dallas). its shouting whilst I drink a fresh G&T.

in other news, this weekend we are taking mum to see Verakai by cirque du soleil at the royal albert hall. (whoops I really hope mum doesn't look at this between now and tomorrow- I have a feeling she won't but you never know - if she does it will be the first time I will be the one to have given a suprise away, as opposed to Roops - mind you Roops has already told mum about this, but mum claims to have not heard what she said...... ) it should be fun, though I know we'll miss jigs and das tomorrow :-(

TFI friday though. what a week - 2 gym visits work all week and it being the week before pay day = owch!! much needed restful weekend I hope!

gonna drink Gin and sign off now.

Vegas baby

I am turning 30 this summer and I want to celebrate Vegas style. I would love to see all my friends and family in Vegas. We are thinking that we will only spend a weekend in Vegas, possibly from Friday July 18th to Sunday July 20th, my birthday is July 21st, although we have not yet made any decisions. I totally understand that costs, holiday/vacation and inclination may mean that a lot of you may not be able to make it, but in case you are I have heard from a very reliable source that British Airways fly to Vegas via Dallas from London, and so you could visit us too. Click here for the UK BA website

Hurrah for our blog by the way. Will post something interesting at some point.
